Tips and Tricks to Cleaning Classic Cars

Tips and Tricks to Cleaning Classic Cars

1. TIPS AND TRICKS TO CLEANING CLASSIC CARS You wouldn’t dream of driving your classic automobile through an automatic car wash, so why would you polish your prized possession with average cleaning products? Car collectors invest a lot of time — and money — in restoring vintage rides to their original glory, right down to the glimmering paint jobs and crushed velvet interiors. It’s the one universal truth that every car collector agrees on: The only way to wash your vehicle is by hand. That advice seems simple enough, but you can’t just use any old microfiber cloth. Towels and sponges made with terrycloth and other fabrics are not recommended, as they can scratch your car’s coat, and leave behind tiny lint fibers. Products crafted with a blend of polyester, wool and nylon can safely glide over any type of finish, lifting the tiniest specks of dirt and debris. They are effective against dirt, but gentle enough to keep your car’s exterior free of ... read more

1971 Camaro Z28

1971 Camaro Z28

The second generation Camaro was produced by Chevrolet from 1970 through the 1981. It was introduced in the spring of 1970. It was longer, lower, and wider than the first generation Camaro. A convertible body-type was no longer available. GM engineers have said the second generation is much more of "A Driver's Car" than its predecessor.  The 1971 Camaro received only minor appearance changes from its 1970 counterpart. Inside, new high-back Strato bucket seats with built-in headrests replaced the 1970-only low-back seats with adjustable headrests. The biggest changes came under the hood, due to a GM-corporate mandate all engines be designed to run on lower-octane regular-leaded, low-lead, or unleaded gasoline, necessitating reductions in compression ratios and horsepower ratings. The 250 cu in (4.1 L) straight-6, 307 cu in (5.0 L) V8, and two-barrel 350 cu in (5.7 L) V8 were virtually unchanged, as they ... read more

1967 Chevelle SS Clone

1967 Chevelle SS Clone

The 1967 Chevelle SS is the single most sought after car out there! The Chevelle Super Sport, or SS represented Chevrolet's entry into the muscle car battle! Early 1964 and 1965 Chevelles had a Malibu SS badge on the rear quarter panel. Starting in mid-1964, the Chevelle could be ordered with the division’s 327-cubic-inch V8, in either 250 or 300 hp. Both used a four-barrel carburetor and 10.5:1 compression. For 1965, Chevrolet also added the 350-hp 327 V8 as Regular Production Option L79. A total of 294,160 Chevelles were built the first year, including 76,860 SS models! This Chevelle we are building right now is unfortunately not an original SS! We are turning this 1967 Chevelle Malibu into the SS. No matter if its a clone SS or an original it is still one sweet ride

1972 Corvette

1972 Corvette

For all you Corvette lovers this is the dream car for you and so very many others out there! This is a 1972 C3 Corvette! I mean there aren't a whole lot of cars out there that beat this car! They even had the fender flares build into the contour of the body to reduce damage from rocks and other wheel-thrown debris! That is a lot better then most of the vehicles now that look like the flares are bulky add ons! That way you get the sleek, sexy look ,that the Chevrolet Corvette has mastered so very well over the years, and still get to keep your paint in perfect condition! Now this C3 that we have in our shop right now is getting the full once over to bring it back to its former glory as one sweet ride! We are bringing this Corvette back to the factory look and quality! When we are done with this bad boy it will look like it was just driven off the showroom floor in 1972! Just as the customer ordered!

1967 Pontiac Le Mans to GTO

1967 Pontiac Le Mans to GTO

The 1967 Pontiac Le Mans was and still is a very popular car! Now the GTO has become more of the dream car rather than the Le Mans. The GTO is often favorable to the Le Mans for several reasons! The GTO has the 400 motor, louvered covered tail lights, fake hood scoops, fog lamps in the grill, and has smooth rear quarter panels. This particular Le Mans is getting the upgrade of a lifetime! We are changing it from the Le Mans to the GTO! Many people have done this and tried to sell the car as an original GTO which is a lot more expensive then a clone or upgraded Le Mans. You need to be very careful if looking into buying a GTO! Luckily for this customer he doesn't ever have to worry about any of that because he gets his own custom GTO! It may not be an original GTO but he gets it exactly the way he wants! After all that I could not see why anyone would ever want to sell it! This is what we do here at Wasatch Customs! We take your dream and make it a reality!  ... read more
